Excess Moisture – The most common reason for a floor covering installation to fail
One of the most common reasons we see for floor covering installations failing on all forms of screed and concrete is excess moisture. It is therefore imperative that a damp test or moisture test is undertaken before the commencement of any work is carried out.
The recommended method for dampness testing is a Hygrometer or Protimeter, seeking to achieve an RH (Relative Humidity) of 75% or less. Anything above this level will either require the use a DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) Altro Everlay so as to facilitate fast track construction projects with the installation of a vinyl floor covering, or Altro XpressLay, which has a unique underside emboss forms tiny air channels allowing any moisture left in the sub-floor to escape.
